- Contain a qualifications summary/professional profile that thoroughly represents your unique brand - your skills, strengths, qualities, passion and value proposition? (Your value proposition is how you can and will help the company's bottom line.)
- Support your value proposition throughout your document?
- Contain the right "keywords" for search engine optimization when you market yourself online - while offering the right structure and context for the human beings who will read it?
- Describe the companies where you worked?
- Clearly and briefly define your overall scope of responsibility and performance for each position - including special circumstances of the challenge, e.g., post merger, underperforming unit?
- Include your specific accomplishments and major achievements demonstrating positive business outcomes?
- Include important numbers that measure your responsibility and performance?
- Include your education, professional certifications/licenses, professional skills, technology skills, special skills and professional affiliations?
- Paint a coherent picture and "tell the story" of your positions and your career path?
- Do the best possible job of representing YOU ... in other words, do you look as good on paper as you do in person?
